It's not the Volts you should worry about, but the Ampers.
So, for the blinkers you need a resistor mounted in paralel with negative and positive wires.
As for the horns, the stock ones draw 1,5A each. You can fit a 3 or 4A horn max or else you can fry the wirings or the horn push button. Best thing to do, is to mount a relay for the horn and then you can use even a truck horn at it's real power. That's what i did.

1: 12v. Amps are the amount of current drawn based on the resistance.
2: The problem with your old signals is that they were LEDs, which don't draw nearly as much current (amps, 'I') They do make solid state flashers, or you wire in resistors.
Voltage is almost always more important, unless you're trying to get electrocuted.

voltage/ amps requirements for turn signals and horns
Q1: What voltage and/ or amps do SC turn signals and horns run on?
Q2: What is needed to keep turn signals blinking at same rate? I once had after market signals on my Monster that blinked at too fast rate. So would like to correct that, I believe that there is some gizmo/ attachment/ relay which can correct this.
I want to get rid of the cheap plastic turn signals and horns and want to keep "vintage" style. Thus billet sigs and horn. Would a 12 v horn work fine or is it more important to make sure that amps are same? Same question regarding turn sigs, voltage or amps more important? Doesn't matter?
