Has anyone been to the race before? Tyring to get some ideas on where I want to spectate from. Going up for the day. I'd like to tool around the pits and checkout the hardware for sure. Thinking I want to skip the on course spectating spots where you have to be up there by 4am...

Can anyone confirm you do need a ticket for general pit access, correct?

I was there in 15. It痴 a toll road, so u pay an entry fee at the gate.

If u want to bum around the pits it痴 free access as I remember. No restrictions.

Whenever I get to do it again I値l go see the pits on the day before the race.

On race day though u want to have your spot picked out. Stay in the pits/start line area or head up the hill to one of 6-7 viewing areas.

Mind the altitude. It gets significantly colder, more unpredictable weather and the potential of altitude sickness (headache, nausea, disorientation) the further up u go. B/c of that I viewed from the Halfway Picnic Grounds. = lots of parking, viewing from both sides of road and could switch back and forth during the day.

I can稚 seem to share my photo album from FB, but here痴 a couple of my better pics of the bikes.

U do need a ticket. Check the first post for link to PPIHC website. All the spectator info is there in the menu under the RACE section of the FAN site, not the competitor site.

Yes you’ll need a ticket (gen admission) to get in and they will close the course around 6ish-7, but you can make it up to the start line anytime (I think). There are plenty of places to spectate from the pits without special access. If I were to spectate the race, I would park shy of the start line and walk to the pits. You should be able to leave any time.

To be honest, I would buy a practice day pass during the week and hit the pits with the bikes with all the access you want. Then hit the Friday night street fest to hang out with all of the cool kids.

We raced vintage motorcycles for 2 years in 2014-15. We are very busy until our guys are at the top, on race day. Afterwards, After a celebratory drink (or 2) we get some much needed sleep.

The last pic is of our race passes. It was 1am on race day, when we were headed up the mountain to get ready.
