What a Weekend!!!

Hope this is the right forum

What a fantastic weekend at the island!!! Spectacular weather for most of it...the drops of rain didn't start until the warm up lap of MotoGP. I was sitting on the main straight and, while I couldn't see the track for the (I'm sure) record crowds, I could certainly pick the chest throbbing roar of the Ducatis.

My partner was a GP virgin until this weekend, whereas this was my ninth Philip Island GP expedition. Sadly, we went 2up on the VFR800 instead of mine (panniers on the Viffer were too convenient ).

I have to say....I'm disappointed with the way Sete seems to race. Its almost as though he is in his own world. He doesn't seem to fight for his place and just lets others overtake without a chase . Anyway....enough of that whinge....there was an AUSSIE on the podium!!!!!

Hope you all enjoyed the racing as much as I did!!!

He probably gave everything he was able to strength through it. Whatever he may say abut being 90% or whatever, it takes a long time for an injury such as the one he had. You lose alot of strength in the process. When my collarbone broke, I couldn't even get up with being strapped to a board. Really sucked.

Phillip Island - September, 17 Spoiler

I thought the race was fantastic. Pitt strategies came to play.
I wonder how much time it takes to change a moto GP bike from dry track settings to wet track settings?
I thing Capirossi could of been in the fight if he only did better with qualifying tires. Rossi was "rossi"! Started 3rd and after lap one he was in 10th and made an incredible run to get on the podium.
Rossi passed Stoner under a yellow flag and rumours of a protest was in the air but I guess nothing came of it.

Young Chris did a terrific job. It was great to see him on the podium. Stoner was doing a pretty good job but I don't understand why he is blaming his team for tyre choice or problems.

Rossi did what he does SOOO well... Finding a way to gazump Sete. 3 laps to go and he was about 4 seconds behind him, 2nd last lap and he's halved that. What a great last corner, there is no way I thought he'd get past Sete. I am sure even Sete thought he'd broken that Jinx and finally beat Rossi.

I'm not too sure I like this 'pitstop' concept, Pedrosa really lost out on that, I don't remember who baulked him as he tried to enter his pit. I don't think there has been enough practice by these guys on how the pitstop deal works. They all know their places and what needs to be done but the riders are not practiced in actually doing the job as evidenced by the close call of Hayden and Sete (?).

It's often been said about Victoria, If you don't like the weather... wait 10 mins... 4 weathers in just an hour.

great race, I wish I was there in person, at the pub in San Remo. hahaha

I was quite disappointed with the way the tires permored at Philips Island I felt that the Ducati were the fastest bikes all weekend, and we're gaining in the right conditions. With Gibernau, I felt like he was going to win either if the track stayed dry or stayed wet. But when it started to dry, the Bridgestone's wore down, I guess they need to fix that. They definitely had it the worst. Hopefully they can take it at Motegi, this week, I know I'll be excited.

The tires definitely lost that race for us.

Sete did really darn well with his injury. Like him or not, he's still recovering from surgery & rode well.

That was great seeing Gibernau back in action. What was up with Capirossi?

I think a big problem with Cap was that the tires the day before weren't exactly right for qualifying, and left both Sete and Cap in the back. As you saw Capirossi had the 2nd fasted warm up lap, w/ Sete right behind. So they were definitely on the roll before it started to rain, just a bad case of timing.

complicated and confusing race. Chalk that one up to a little bit of luck and skill. Heard one of the commentators state Hayden snitched Rossi for passing on the yellow. Does that mean Rossi will stick a pin in the Hayden Voodoo doll? The one next to Setes?
