1999 900ss Gas cap

My powder coater ruined my gas cap and now I need to buy a new one, at his cost. I found a 1998 one on Ebay that looks the same but Im not sure (and the seller doesnt know either). Does anyone know if the 98 will fit a 99? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure they're all the same up to 2000 at least. The fill cap from my 1993 SS is the same as the cap on my 2000 996. That much I can say for certain. The rest is extrapolation......sean

Cap or lock set?
If you change just the cap you might end up with a second key, if you find a complete lockset then you should only have one. If you do not care about keeping it oem there are some decent aftermarket caps that are keyless as well.If you need/want oem I think that part may still be available new too.

Just my 2 cents--stay away from the caps on Ebay that have the screw in top they work for a very very short time then leak like crazy, I ordered one for a BMW a few years ago and I liked it at first, but within 2 weeks it started leaking and guess what I could not find --a freeking O-ring the correct size--so I removed it and it sits in a drawer in my tool box--total waste of money IMHO
