ducatiss100ds wont start

hi every 1 i just picked up my 2006 ss1000ds i was riding it hme and the engine cut out twice but then was fine so went out 4 a ride later on bike was fine but when i got home the bike just won't start the engine turns over but just won't fire ive checked all the obvious things that could be wroung but can't fine anything anyone have any ideas would be much apreciated, thanks jamie

Hi I have had my 2006 ss 1000ds since new and I have not had any of the problems you described, however I have had problems with the ingnition barrel getting stuck and not being able to turn the key.

The first thing to do is drain the fuel and refill with fresh, put a full charge on the battery and try that. If you just picked it up, the fuel could be old.
You can start looking for bigger gremlins once the basics are covered.

are you loosing all power when it dies?
It sounds like a loose battery cable.

My mate just bought his ds 2003 about two months ago. From the day he picked it up, he's had exactly the same problem that your having. The previous owner put in a new battery, changed the fuel (it had been a few months since he'd been on it) and new spark plugs. This seemed to have improved things for a short time. Now it's gotten a bit worse. It kicks over but won't start.

Mine was always problematic to start. A new battery improved things, but not 100%.

A month and a half ago, it started running on one cyclinder, I diagnosed it as a bad ECU (no spark to the H cyclinder).

Ordered a U59 ECU, received it Wednesday. Now the bike starts immediately as I hit the start button, every time, hot or cold, even afters sitting for 6 weeks!

Not a cheap solution, but recommended. Plus, I don't have the brick wall rev limiter at 8500 RPM anymore! (9600 now)
