Sold it. Mixed emotions, but it's gone on to another owner. I need to take some pics and post the goodies that did NOT go with it over in the classified forum.

Finally fixed my bike. As I suspected - the remaining misfire was due to my pulling the carbs off/apart multiple times trying to track down something which was in the ignition. Not the idle mixtures as I'd thought - but two loose clamps on the inlet manifold rubbers. However , once I'd spotted that wee problem, I set all the idle fuel and air screws anyway. 1 3/4 turns out on both, and it's idling sweet, and running nicely at low revs around town. Did a 100 mile ride today to check it all out - - and it was as good as I could want it. Success.

Now I have to start on the missus bike...

Recently acquired 12 SF848 from a friend. It's been sitting around, first thing was maintenance.

Oil, clutch, brake change.
Clean the bike
Changed to GP shift

OEM Seat (came with Performance but little too tall for me)

Looking to get rearsets and Levers next

Fabbed up a new battery bracket to hold the battery and ignition, since I decided to run pods. Started with some 1/8" aluminum sheet, made some cuts, and had a guy here at work help me bend it up on our brake. Some drilling, primer, and paint - and voila.

I just need to mock up some sort of battery strap.

Nicely done! Access to an industrial brake must have helped with the fabbing.

Picked up my bike from a farm today. Yesterday I changed down a gear, tipped in to a 90 degree bend and powered on when the chain broke. At first I thought it was a false neutral, changed gear again with the same result.

It scored the teeth on the rear sprocket (no biggie as I'm gonna fit my new 42 tooth cog now that I purchased awhile ago), but worse than that it badly gouged all three spokes and the hub on the rear wheel. So a wheel refub is on the way.
The chain was in good condition and I assumed it was good quality, always lubed.... but as it turns out was a cheap piece of shit fitted by the PO.

So stuck 200klms from home I rolled it down the hill in to an open farm gate and hid it behind a shed. Rode home on the back of a mate's K1300GT.

Anyway I dodged a bullet I reckon considering worse case scenario.
