OK I got my carbs back today for my 1991 900ss-put them on got the airbox and battery in -turned the key on hit the start button and all it did was turn over & over & over nothing. So Damnit -I just walked away 2 min later I said -you idiot you didnt open the petcock lol--So I opened the petcock turned the key on hit the start button 3 revolutions and she started sounds great-First time I have heard her run--tomorrow I;ll tweek the carbs-idle adjustment, synch and air screws. I am happy as hell-this is the first time this bike has run since 2003. Now when it stops raining I'll take her out and give her a ride to see if anything needs sorting, But this project may be about done--for now lol

At least the engine would have been well oiled by the time it fired. Good to hear another one breathes again.

Today Reguator

Today I went to go for a ride and smelled burning rubber and saw a lot of smoke at the regulator.

That's no shat! Super Duper clean, well done, high degree of attention to detail. When I grow up I want to make mine as cleanly done.

I've done absolutely nothing on my project 900SS today. Nor yesterday. Not in a while actually.

Last Monday, before the WCM get together I got a rather large box of parts in the mail. My AirTech order arrived!! So there's that. Then, while I was away at the WCM, another box of parts from Ducati Omaha arrived with my new chain slider and a couple of other rubber bits to replace the originals that long ago turned to naff.

Other than that, clean up continues. My horizontal head had so much gunk accumulated in the fins on the top of the cylinder, I had to make miniature shovel out of an old saw blade to literally scoop crap out. Seems like I removed around 10 lbs of gravel and sand from the fins.....along with a wayward roll pin that came from who knows where.

More later........sean
