You mean the fuel level sensor and wire for the fuel pump ? remove it and plug the hole (I used champagne bottle cork)

I'm getting ready to do the tank on my 1991 900ss, there is some rust in the bottom, but it does not leak as of yet--So I thought what the hell stop the problem before it becomes a problem.
