That's not even funny.. 748 in a 1098.
I would like put an 848 in my 748 though. I just prefer the style of the 748/916. Even if it doen't handle near as good or is as light. I just wish I had more power!

But...

Has anyone considered welding tabs on a 1098 frame to accommodate 916 fairings and headlight bucket? Then a little intake runner massaging and slight modification to have the 1098 exhaust to mimic the desmoquatro, and Presto.

Just spitballin' here...
YES, THATS A GOOD IDEA.

I have been tracking it and I didnt get a good comparison as the group was full of 750 inlines...or were they lol. Seriosly, out of the turns it absolutely crushes the latest inline 1000s, so I had a good time passing them on the rear coming out of the turns. Even on the full straights it holds up fine.

Seems there is a bit of interest in converting our old goodies with some fresh engines, I've gotten a bunch of emails since this spring.

One of the most common question is about that theres not enough room for the front injector.
And mounted straight on top of the stack that is true.
However I had the spraypattern checked out at an injector specialist and from that I could tell that it has really good spray and then how wide the spray is (cone angle), so from that I figured out that mounting it angled to the stack would work, see pic. (I also saw an Renault F1 engine having that setup so I think I actually added 50hp..lol..)

Fall is coming up here and I should have some more time to write a list of whats required to do this conversion, other than insanity...

Cheers Tom
