For whatever reason I've been lagging on my contributions to this site lately. It's partially because there are so many knowledgeable folks on here I'm not sure I've got a ton to contribute! But I've been a moto nut for years and have been building the stable over the last several. I'm now up to 24 bikes. And while I probably know a fraction of what many on here do I can say with certainty that I thoroughly enjoy riding them and have gotten to know most of them well!! I personally love seeing pics of these ducs (and other bikes) so here's a thread that provides plenty of them. If you're not into that you might want to stop reading right now!
I think I've got at least one pic of each one (albeit not all great shots) so here it goes starting from newest to oldest. Sorry they're not all Ducati's
Those old "L-frame" Zooks are pretty cool. I'm all in on the bikes with fully floating rear brake caliper mounts as well. Most people don't even know how that set up works, or why it's even there. Then again, most folks don't even know the rear brake is on the bike at all, let alone how to use it.
Question about the MV; I've been eying the Brutale 800 and Turismo Veloce.. the RC models. Is it as good as it looks? No major issues or anything? These are so rare, that if you face an issue, you are basically at the mercy of the dealer. No collective userbase like for example Ducati has, and this forum - this at least here in northern Europe. Luckily our Importer/Dealer has a very good reputation, for what I've heard.
Thanks mate. I really love the MV. It's such a competent bike. Very comfortable, good electronics and i love the high revving triple. I have a dealer close by but candidly have not had any issues with the bike and I've got 6500 miles on the clock. The riding position is so much more compliant than the sport bikes and with the short wheel base it turns in well. For me what I love the most about it is the looks. Especially in RC trim. It's gorgeous. I upgraded the rotors and ended up putting a 200/55 supercorsa on the rear along with a matching front and really like the additional grip and taller sidewall. The 200/50 profile tire was a bit flat for my liking. I say pull the trigger. It's a rare bird and a hoot to ride. Had a 2016 RR when it first came out and had to have the RC. Hope this is helpful!
Thanks man. Yeah the older bikes are fun to ride and have a coolness factor to them as well. I'm always amazed at how far performance has come in a couple of decades, but i have just as much fun at half the speeds on the older bikes as the newer ones. A lot of the older bikes have such character that is unique to them.
Just what is it you do for a living? If your not willing to say, PM me the time and address of the next bank yer knockin over, I want in!
I think the "minor" discretions from Ducatis can be forgiven................after all, they are some of THE bikes that have helped shape sportbikes as we know them.............. Fabulous collection, green with envy.
:grin2: I've been known to hit a bank or two every now and then. Helps to finance this disorder I have. That's why I like visiting these forums. When you're surrounded with other sicko's with the same disorder as you, you feel somewhat "normal"!!
Such amazing bikes the 998r’s. Never sell yours! They are getting harder and harder to find. Especially quality examples. Same goes for the 996r’s. That one was especially difficult. At least to find the right one that checked the boxes I was looking for.
Wow, that is one sweet fleet of bikes you have. Add a modernized RG Gamma or RZ500 to cover the ring ding side. I suggest you host a Euro Bike Night soon :wink2: Thanks for a look behind the curtain.
Thanks guys.
It's been a fun collection to assemble and I love changing it up. I go from preferring the older bikes and wanting to sell everything else to jumping on a newer bike and being totally blown away. I need to move out of CA so I can afford some land. Storage is a huge issue here!
Thanks mate. Jeff Nash at AMS Ducati has the full history. I know it spent some time in Germany at one point but haven't asked him about whether or not it saw much track duty.
Thanks. The 998R is one of my favorites. The one I ride has 6500 miles. The other one is low mileage and sees little road time. Same with the 2 RC30's. One sees road time, the other is low mileage. My bayliss is #269.
Oh man. It changes often. Some that come to mind. I'd love a 955SPA. An 888 SP5 would be cool too.
I've always wanted an NR750 with the oval pistons to go with the RC30's and RC45.
For the newer stuff I'm on the list for the new Streetfighter which looks like a ton of fun. I'd also love an RSV4X, which is a track only bike celebrating 10 years of the RSV4. Only 10 being made worldwide unfortunately.
Wow.
Japanese magazine, Motorcyclist followed pretty closely of the development of NR750. I used to read them over and over, trying to understand what NR is all about. It was sort of a dream bike, not particularly my dream, but collective one, that it, I think, was the first bike ever that was built with no engineering compromise, no expense spared, the ultimate. The quality of engineering, fit and finish, even to this day, is one of the best ever, if not the best full stop. Jalopnik has been doing the videos on Japan's bubble era cars, but they are missing it - the NR is THE bubblest bubble era vehicle. It's so cool, your RC30 has a good company!
