Marchesini Wheel Info Needed

OK, need info. I have a bronze color front wheel from 2010 Streetfighter S. It appears to be a paint finish. My rear is a black wheel with red stripe from a 2008 1098S. For the life of me, I cant tell if the finish is paint, powder coat or anodizing. The red stripe is not tape. It is part of the finish. Im very surprised as I thought it would be tape. Ive seen posts where people swear Marchesini are anodized, others say they are painted. How can I tell?
Have not yet decided to go with bronze or black, on the color change. Will install on red bike.

Come on guys, 43 people have looked at this. Surely Im not the only one to wonder about the finish or the painted on stripes! Awaiting cones to arrive so I can check roundness of rear wheel. Front seems straight as spun on balancer. Believe I will go with the bronze color for both.

Anodizing is extremely thin, paint is thicker. Try scratching a test spot inside of the rim. If it's paint, it will produce little flakes. Anodized finishes will not produce any flakes or chips.

As far as "43 people having looked at this" .... clearly they have no answer for you. Be patient.

As far as the "painted on stripe" ... what is it you want to know? You've already determined it's painted on.

Lastly, if you're going to finish both wheels in some bronze color, whether the rims are anodized or painted is of no matter. Either way you're going to have to rough up the surface a little to apply the bronze finish.

I am one of the 43... quite frankly I didn't feel like I had any conclusive info for you one way or the other so I didn't respond.

However, now that you have shamed me into it, I will add this. I have two pair of Marchesini wheels for my R. One is the OEM set, the other is a pair of OEM style, 5 spoke Magnesiums. If I had to pick a finish process, based on my experience in the automotive engineering workspace, I would wager that they are powder coated.

Valid points, no doubt. Guess I was wanting confirmation from other owners on the nature of the red stripes mostly. Im sure my painter will let me know if he cant paint over the finish, and youve detailed how its done.
Thanks for the response.

You may be correct. My rear rim (with red stripe) seems like the finish may be PC, but I could think of no way someone could get a perfect red stripe in the finish.

That is perhaps painted on after the powder coating is done, before the whole thing is clear coated?

Could be. Fantastic job was done on it. If it didnt have some scratches, Id probably leave it black. Ive heard of others having trouble finding red tape stripes to match OEM.

My 08 Hypermotard 1100S Has the forged Marchesini Wheels
and front brakes off the 1098 as part of the S package. The
wheels on mine are black powder coat the red stripe is painted
on and the Forged Marchesini is a sticker on both of my wheels.

Picture is not my wheel but mine look the same.

Thanks, that sounds like a description of mine. The Marchesini Forged stickers are the white lettered type. Black coating is thick. Would make sense that painted on stripes have no edge as they would be very thin layer. Maybe they baked it after painting stripes.
Most queries to Marchesini are answered that they dont PC, but whoever answers may have no idea what was done in 2008-2010.
