Lemon Law Buy Back 998 Matrix

So If you had an option to buy a 2004 998 Matrix that has a Lemon Law Buy Back
title but the seller has no information about the issue would you? Per the CA DMV
the seller of the vehicle must disclose the reason for the Buy back and the steps
taken to correct it. The new seller dosen't know this information. The bike looks
clean form photos has 12,000 miles a few aftermarket items has been non OP for
5 years he has had it on display in his house. Of course I have not seen it in person
yet and I wouldn't be able to start it etc just check for damage make sure the engine
is not locked up etc.
This could be a major can of worms or a good deal what would you be willing to offer
for it if you had the chance?
What would the part out value of it be?

Steer clear and find another one.
It's like marrying a woman who's been married 4 times before and thinking you will be the lucky one.

I'd say jump for it if you can get a good price. It's a rare and cool model, and not too complex. Anything that's wrong with it will be fixable.

Is the owner asking $7k? If so, that's too high for not staying original. And at 12K miles. (which isn't much)

How much would I pay for a bike I did not hear run? As much as I could sell the wheels and fairing for.

I like most riders have always wanted a 916-998 Ducati they are iconic bikes. I would
not want to part it out but if I am getting it for less than part out value why not take
the risk on it.

Sounds like it may have as many title problems as it could mechanical. It would have to be damn cheap before I'd even consider it.

What does the lemon law mean in California ? Doesn’t it mean they tried to fix the same issue multiple times and failed ? It would be nice to trace that down. Maybe through the DMV you could find the dealer ?

It's a movie replica and a corny one at that - to me the bike starts out being worth less than a standard 998. But - if you want this thing because the matrix edition is cool then all that title and buy-back stuff doesnt matter because you're not buying it for a daily rider anyway. Buy it and enjoy it. If you want a daily rider that is solid and reliable and will give years of trouble-free service - I'd stay clear of this bike. (If you are going to part it out you're a dick .)

What's it worth? With that title, not running and assuming everything else is clean and working I'd say about $3000 to $3500
