recognize this 998

Just wondering if someone recognizes this 998? I am thinking of buying this bike, but there is no history of maintenance performed or abuse

Well, there were no 998 Sennas, so at the very least it's had a respray & not one that paid attention to detail either, the wheels should be red. Even if the Senna stuff is just decals, there were virtually no official black 998s either.

And thats 916/996 bodywork too.

Looks a bit dodgy to me.

That's not a 998. It's a 996 916 or 748 senna who knows. And I doubt that it is a real senna because. The actual senna came Red wheels and the decals on the bodywork looked different.. Someone made changes to a stock 996 biposto to look a little like a 996 senna. I wouldn't buy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmfz1mvz0-E

They should at least clean whatever it is before putting it on the showroom floor. If it's that dirty, they most probably didn't check it mechanically.

If they're going to put it on the floor looking like, it had be as cheap as it is dirty. Are they advertising it to be a Senna or have they said it's a mock up?

It's hard to see what this is...

It looks like it is the 998 front V fairing, the front horizontal cylinder is not sticking out of it, from what I can see.
The expansion water tank in front of the fuel tank doesn't seem to have the atmospheric pressure sensor on top of it, suggesting a 998 engine?

But it is hard to tell...

Dodgy, that's the word...

I had a question regarding my 996 SPS, so I contacted Ducati N.A via email , supplied the VIN and requested verification and info. They confirmed all the info on the bike including when purchased and from what dealership. You could try that route if you REALLY want the bike.

It's definitely a 998. But it seems to have spent some of it's life on the track( safety wired). Not to concerned because that is my plan for it. What i am concerned is how much abuse has it seen. It shows 5000 miles on the tach. I am hoping someone here has seen this bike before.

It may be a well sorted bike. All my race bikes were turned back into streetbikes to sell, but with all the good parts still on them (pipe, jetting, shock and re-valved forks, rear-sets, clip ons, etc), and they were way better bikes than any clean, low mile, high dollar stocker.

That's off topic, I know. I can't help you with that particular bike. Surely somebody here knows something about it?
