Given the maintenance cost on the desom. I would go with the R over the desmo.

It depends how deep your pockets are, D16 is the holy grail but real world 1199r would be the almost sensible choice. What are you planing to do with it street, track or mount it on the mantelpiece?

Go for the 1199r.. Either way. You'll be on a Ducati. Ya know?

Unless you got money to spend on the Desmo

If you have a good mechanic to service the Desmodicci, then it's a no brainer.

You say you can get a clean Desmosedici for the same price as an 1199R? Get It! Desmo's run 45K at the least (unless its been crashed and has a salvage title). Since brand new 1199Rs are 35k out the door, that means you are telling us you can get a genuine MotoGP replica for 10k less than market? Jump On It!!!

Or... save your money up for the 1199 Superleggera.

If you really need help deciding how to spend your own money (not a problem I'm familiar with at all), I second the suggestion of the 1199 Superleggera.
In my opinion you get WAY more of everything with either the SL or the R over the Desmo, except perhaps curb side cred from the peanut gallery
