Advice on starter removal

Hey guys. I did a search and couldn't find any tips on pulling the starter. The bike is a 2001 996 SPS. The starter cranks slow, and needs a jump to get going in the morning. After that it will be ok on it's own for the rest of the day. I believe the brushes in the starter need a good cleaning. I see 3 bolts looking like they are holding the starter in place. Do I have to remove the oil lines behind the starter? Any special tools or gaskets needed before I start to get it back running?. Any help from somebody who has done it would be great.

You'll need to remove the left side case cover with a special tool that you can make or buy in order to get the starter bolts out.
