do a search in the ST forum, I read about using a long screw, a wingnut, and a socket to fit over the pin then the wingnut screws down on the fender washer and pulls the rocker pin. I can't recall the screw size, it screws into the rocker pin. It worked great even though I can't describe it worth a darn...

Homemade mini slide hammer with proper size screw end(can't remeber size)

or a deep socket big enough to go over the shaft with a washer on end and long screw (same size as above) then just screwing in pulls out.

Not much on homemade tools, since it's all I can do to bust time out to do the work. Mike at EMS makes a very nice dedicated slap hammer. I've used it and can attest to it's efficiency: Ducati 2 Valve and 4 Valve Adjustment Shim Kits
Scroll down about twenty items to the "Rocker Arm Spindle Puller/Slap Hammer " LT Snyder also caries them at DesmoTimes.com. Mike's rocker depressor is another excellent tool for the job, and I can't imagine doing my desmoquatro valves without the full set of shims he has produced.

You can use either "homemade" method described, the special tool from EMS (DESMOTIMES may have them.too), or the best is to get an regular slide hammer that yo can use for other things and the M5 or M6 screw for the rocker pin.
