MTS1200 gear indicator calibration

G'day all,

My 2013 MTS 1200 has developed a strange problem where it occasionally thinks it's a gear above where it actually is. Ie, it indicates N when it's in 1st, 3rd in 2nd etc. It's very annoying when happens as the map/throttle response is obviously designed for specific gears and taking off in 1st when the bike thinks it's in neutral is a nightmare!

I know the sensors can fall out of calibration and display a "C" on the gear indicator. Mine isn't doing that, but I figured perhaps if I can induce a calibration cycle and then run through the process I might be able to "teach" the bike where each gear is again. I've got the info on how to calibrate it, but I wondered if anyone knows how to actually induce the calibration cycle? Perhaps unplugging and sensor or something to that effect?

Could also be that the sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced but figured I'd start at a zero cost solution and try my luck!

Any info or insight would be much appreciated!

Cheers all,

Tom

I recall seeing a video on YT with some fellow recalibrating the gear selection. You should be able to find it if you search.

Thanks Siddo. I think I've seen the video you're talking about, but I think it only shows how to calibrate the shifter, not actually get it into a position that it requires calibration so as to start the process - if that makes any sense?... I need mine to display the "C" in the gear indicator spot so I can start the calibration. Trying to find a way to do that.

I never could get my 2014 to display 'C' with that info. But, simply unplugging the sensor and cycling the ignition and then plugging it back in cured mine.
