Active Key Recall - Do I Need to have Pannier Locks Replaced?

I've got an appointment tomorrow to have the active key recall done....the receptionist at dealer service is telling me I need to bring the panniers along too (pain in the rear).

Does anyone know if this is necessary? Do they replace the lock tumblers? The bulletin i've seen online makes it look like they remove the actual key part and replace the sensor unit only.

They're not gonna like me when it's my turn. The key blade in my fob snapped off early on, so I had a simple non-transponder key made (a couple, really, as it's nice to have some keys around to open the cases that won't also start the bike if you forget them). I took that basic key and cut it down so it fit in the socket of the fob. And because the retaining pin slot is the weak spot, I just JB Welded the new blade in place. Dunno how we're gonna get around that.

Youtube video link in the bulletin confirms that they don't replace the key itself...only the transmitter/active key portion.

Not sure why I was told to bring the cases along...

FWIW, mine has been fine...
