Hello all. Been away for a few years experimenting with some Aprilia’s (Tuono’s and RSV4’s)....really enjoyed them.
I have had 3 previous Pikes Peaks (12’, 13’ and a 2014)...and LOVED them. So, am thrilled to be back again...and picking up my 2019 PIkes Peak later this week. Excited to see the difference that the DVT and 1260 motor has made on this beast. I have been reading all of the posts and reviews...and look forward to maybe doing a comparison myself.
Couple of additional points/questions:
1) I have already ordered a 42 tooth rear sprocket (for some additional low and grunt)...and will either swap myself or have the dealership do it when I pick it up. Any tips or recommendations on the install would be appreciated. (Watched a few vids)
2) Also ordere an RG radiator guard.
3) Ok.. now the dreaded question about decatting with an Arrow midpipe.
If I do a midpipe at all (for weight and maybe a slight pickup in power/sound).... I would ONLY CONSIDER DOING A MIDPIPE WITH STOCK HEADERS AND THE STOCK TERMI that comes with the Pikes Peak...with NO TUNE. I have read I believe to be ALL of the posts on decatting.... however still haven’t seen the exact answers I am looking for. So my questions are:
A) has anyone with a 1260 done a midpipe yet and keep the stock headers/pipe...and NO TUNE? If so...results? Did the stock ECU adjust the A/F ratio?
B) Ideally, i would be looking for any hard data... like the stock air/fuel ratios pre mid pipe......and then the air/fuel rations after the midpipe and NO TUNE.
To clarify...I am NOT looking for input on doing the full TERMI system, or mid pipes WITH TUNES, etc. If those are the only way to effectively decat the bike....then I will leave well enough alone, as I am not interested in giving up my warranty. (I did a Mivv and Tune on my 2014, and just not interested in doing a tune again).
Thanks in advance fellas.... and thrilled to be back on a Ducati!!
