I have the resistor but I can't even begin to figure out how the pigtail comes apart. Need three hands the size of an infant's and a special tool it looks like. I'm gettin' burned out on all the mickey mouse shit with this bike.

New C version fuel sensor having issues after 4 months

Can you take a pic? What are you calling a pigtail?

It's a plug with a male and female end. The sensor plug is male, and the bike plug is female. Resistor goes in the female plug.

The problem is I can't get it apart to put the resistor in. There's a safety tab on the top that depressing it does not unlock it.

Don't press the tab. Pull the tab (gently). See pic

You can do it with a your hands. I just used a needle nose for the pic.

Wrestled with that Rubik's Cube for a while, but it can be done. Forget just how, but I believe I used a tiny flat head screwdriver to pry here and there and eventually got it apart without breaking it. A first!

I studied some parts diagrams I found on-line and photos posted here and eventually had my a-ha moment.

Also, I seem to remember it separates at a different point than I originally thought, and that was half the problem. I was focused on the wrong area. Take your time, and you'll get it.

Okay, got it done. Much thanks. Here are pics of the end results. Yields a 3/4 tank indication, using 22Kohm 1/4 watt resistor w/ 2% variance. 4 pack $1.25 at the electronics supply house. Luckily, had some heat shrink electrical tubing handy as well.

I'm leaving it like this until Ducati releases yet another new version of the fuel sender. I guess the D revision.... when and if they do. I can live with the constant 3/4 tank reading.

Good job.

Different year, different resistor, whatever ... mine yields a full tank showing (???), and like you, I can live with it. With my tank lined by GTL, I ran out of gas once at 190 miles. (Heavy throttle hand.) Now I just refill at 180 and all is well. I'm not going to change it until I'm absolutely convinced version Z.9 or whatever is truly bullet proof.

New sensor is installed and it seems to be working correctly now. On the warranty invoice it says p/n 59210211D.
