Did you do your trip already? Was everything as expected?

I'll be driving a van back home from the Isle of Man at the end of August.. need to plan which route I am going to take. Maybe the bridges, 'cause I've never done them.

Our holiday ended up a bit too busy so we ran out of time to do the optional things we usually try to fit in , like a ride-out into the countryside or meeting-up with contacts.

Copenhagen was fine , although they are rebuilding Metro so its a bit noisy and disrupted but the Tivoli was lovely and the concert we attended there was good.

Stockholm was a lovely city and we took in the Vasa Museum and a boat cruise and saw the setting up of the RedBull Flying Machine event whilst doing the tourist sight-seeing thing(we had to leave on the Sunday morning so did not see the actual event although have looked at some of it on YouTube)

Orland Island was very quiet but suited us after the intensity of the preceeding days.
I must say that the main Swedish trunk roads are not very pleasant with the constant alternating 3/2 lanes split by what we motorcyclists in the UK call 'cheese-cutter' wire barriers and the speed limits are a bit tiresome if a distance has to be covered.
The major disappointment was that we did not see any bears at the location up in Halsingland and it was massively over-priced to not come up with the goods and was very poor quality so would not recommend it to friends (Eu 500 per night !)
As this was the main focus on our trip it put a 'downer' on averything else.
Stockholm is major expensive !

The last distaster was , having set off early from Orland to catch the Esbjerg ferry (650 KMs) we arrived early to find the whole service cancelled for at least 3 days so we had to make our way to Amsterdam for the next-day departure (another 750 Kms) and had to get some of that done to be able make it so proceeded for another 250 miles that day to the outskirts of Hamburg and luckily found a reasonable hotel when we needed to stop.

So one to be put away under 'experience' - Considering WDW next year when the factory can decide when to hold the event - Might take the train down to Northern Italy.

Ferries worked fine so can recommend them , Malmo bridge was also Ok but expensive (26 Eu for bike/2 people) but guess it would still be your best bet.

Anyway sorry for slow feed-back and thank you for your input and maybe , if you can make it to Scotland , you can enjoy the uncluttered , wire free , open roads here.
If you do then please feel free to contact me to recipricate with information and hospitality.

BTW The bike performed faultlessly , only issue a loose sidestand bolt , which we managed to get re-fitted in Stockholm by a cycle shop.

Cheers
Allan

Good or Bad , an experience is an experience and we consider ourselves fortunate that we are able to undertake these type of holiday where , perhaps , others cant.
Hope you IOM trip goes well.
