What black paint for engine

Hi guys,

I am putting my engine back together and painted the different parts with VHT spray paint.
Crank case in cast aluminium silver color
Water pump, clutch side in flat black satin color
Cilinders also need to become black.

Well, the crank case turned out to be fine, but the waterpump and clutch side panel have a very rough finish.
It really is an ugly finish so I want to redo them but obviously with a different paint than now used.

Can anyone recommend black spray paint for engine parts preferably not glossy and with a smooth finish?

TIA,
Jacco

not what you want to hear. vht is shit and not solvent resistant enough. for a perfect and durable finish the part need to be blasted, must be etch primed and coated with the correct amount of matting agent in the TWO part paint in the color you require. i tell people who give me parts to paint, 'you have 3 options, perfect, fast or cheap. pick one'.

Thanks for the info, appreciated!
And it matches my experience when using Motip. Just a few drops of fuel and the paint was damaged.
That's why I decided to go for VHT. But probably more of the same.

The crank case looks ok, and I did heat the crank case to harden the paint. After this warming up it is supposed to be solvent proof. We'll see.

For the black parts this cerakote route sounds interesting. Just don't know where to go to in Holland.

Iíve had the best luck with VHT wrinkle black, durability wise. I realize that may not be what youíre looking for. I used their brake caliper paint too, in silver. It will handle the heat, but I got a little brake fluid damage before it cured. I just did it over the winter so I canít say how long it will last.
