10 Ear Circlip

1974 750gt wearing Lockheed master cylinder. (All original Scorpion gear in storage). About to rebuild master and found it's got a 10 ear Circlip. So, couple of questions:

1) Is there a tool avail for removing it or do I just yank it out and push the new one in (was thinking of using a socket?
2) Is it feasible to replace with a "normal" Circlip?

Thanks all

The Norton Manual just called it a "ten eared circlip". Here's an image

The part you're looking for is also known as a self-locking retaining ring. They come in two varieties - tabs on the inside and tabs on the outside.

It would very helpful if you would fill out your location information in the User CP so we know what country you're in for recommendations of where to buy.

10 ear circlip

Just yank it out and replace. You can straighten it and re-use it if you can't get one new, although it should come with the rebuild kit. It's just to hold the rubber boot in place.
