500 Desmo Sport

Hi All,Firstly I live in Australia and have just bought a 500 Sport Desmo 1979,I know these particular bikes have a bad reputation but would like to correspond with others with same model. This bike has had several mods to iron out its design problems such as oil pump it also has had the engine reconditioned and has been rewired. The bike is in beautiful restored condition and I paid AUD 4000 for it which is about US 2700,may have paid to much but we all say that.Look forward too any comments good or bad.

Regards Barry Batemans Bay Australia.

ps This bike is only a toy for me not a daily rider.

Congratulations, Bazza 456. Eager to see a pic, as I'm not sure what bike you're referring to. Is this the parallel twin?

These bikes handle good and look absolutely spot on in the original colours. Yours looks to be in quite good condition. Get into it.

Thanks for sharing the picture, Barry. Nice find, good looking machine. Can't recall the last time I have seen one of these.

Not only the rotors, but also the tires (width) and the forks (diameter)

Two weeks ago, I was at the Harvest Classic (vintage) rally in Luckenbach, TX and saw an early (70's) Honda Goldwing. I recall when that bike came out, it was huge. Looking at it now I'm wondering how one can ride such a big bike with "bicycle tires" and those skinny forks.

PS - violating my previous post here .... no pics to show
