So right away you need new tires, belts, fluids, battery. What else?

Pay what they are asking and have them do it as part of the deal. "New" is, well, "new". With the sport bike mkt in the crapper, they will jump at it. Done deal.

Agreed, all their new stuff would need new brake fluid, new oil, new coolant, new belts, probably paper air filter, tires, maybe a chain depending on the climate it was stored in - that is at least $1000

Just keep that in mind if buying a new old stock bike.
If the price is right it could be a good deal.
Ask the dealer to take care of all that for you.
Or ask for a big discount to diy it.

And remember, as soon as you put one mile on it, the value goes to market. But buy what you like, not because you think you'll make or save money.

What the hell. How does a dealer even have a new 1999 900SS? What is the story behind that? There is something wrong here. A bike doesn't just sit in a showroom for 20 years.

Did they just pick a few bikes out, put them back in the crate and say hey this would be a cool bike to try and sell in 20 years, tuck it in the back of the warehouse.\

This is mind boggling.

If they are asking that price, no wonder they can't sell! That's why it is still in their shop

I bought a bike from them before. They are not likely to make deals. They have a lot of older bikes - and donít do much in the way of markdowns. I almost pulled the trigger on that SFS for the exact same listed price 4 years ago...
