I'm glad they mentioned his probably final time. I had it calculated at 9:31. When he said his goal was 9:48, I was like, "he was way way way faster than that." I know that he didn't cross the line but I will forever think of the motorcycle time as that 9:31/32 and I will forever credit that to CD. I bet he would have been so proud of that accomplishment.

EDIT: This was released today - the PPIHC team analyzed the footage of the accident and they determined that he high sided right before the finish. Witnesses say he hit that bump 150 feet or so from the finish and high sided with the bike's being sent across the road while carlin was thrown from it.

Talked to some reps at Ducati island to Laguna Seca wsbk and the street fighter will have a larger rake and longer wheel base then the super bike. Just like the original street fighter

As long as its the same spec as Carlin was riding, I don't think we have anything to worry about.

It sounded from descriptions like he was riding a VERY slightly (and mostly cosmetically) modified Pani V4R. The final streetfighter is almost certainly going to have substantial changes. Power delivery tuned for midrange... much lower redline, less than 200hp, bit more weight, far fewer trick components (but maybe with aftermarket you can get close?).

I suspect it'll still be a beast because it will need to outclass the Tuono and that bike is a beast.

Definitely the bike I'm looking forward to the most next year... trying to sandbag enough $$$ to sneak it in without too much spousal grumbling.

I dont think I can do it. I'm such a huge fan of Carlin and the bike will always represent his death to me. I just couldn't live with that.

I feel the same but it could be a tribute to him.
