Not quite...

The Cagiva company bought the remains of the Aermacchi motorcycle factory from H-D in 1978. All the Cagiva motorcycles for the first year or two were assembled from leftover parts in the Aermacchi factory. They had a big line up, 2T 125,175,250 and 350 in street and scrambler clothing.

Then Cagiva produced the first liquid cooled 125 MXer in 1980 and their fortunes took off.

Cagiva ended up buying Ducati in about 1985/86, and the rest is pretty well known.

Ducati Motorcycles by Alan Cathcart covers the history of Ducati up until 1985/65 and also Cagiva and is the definitive work on Ducati for that time frame.

AND . . . Cagiva owns Aermacchi which was sold to them by H-D.

Small world.

To much data in brain to compute.....
It was Texas Pacific Group who owned Ducati.... I hate it when facts don´t line up

And MW Agusta Group was owned by Harley Davidson from 2008 for a short period of time!

Got them mixed up.......... confusing when that happens!
