916 Fuel Filter - BMW part number?
I'd like to replace the fuel filter in my '98 916, and according to this thread, I can use an OEM BMW filter that is identical to the one that my local Ducati dealer wants $70 for. Does anyone know what the part number is?
The Napa 3020 will work, but it doesn't quite fit properly. I'm okay paying a bit more for the correct diameter/flow filter.

Mahle KL145 as used on BMW K100, also used on many Triumphs.

Whoa:
http://www.ducatisti.co.uk/forum/tec...ati-parts.html
They list the Mahle KL 24/1 for the 916, but say it's also longer?
The KL 145 is mentioned in the further posts, I'd just like to be sure I'm getting the right part.

I replaced a Ducati filter that had been fitted at a dealer service, it was branded Ducati and also Mahle who manufacture them for Ducati, I replaced it with the KL145 it was exactly the same part.
I don't know what a KL24/1 is.

94CobraR, does the Napa 3032 have the same dimensions as OEM filter (diameter)?

It's the same. Desmotimes has been offering it for a long time...

According to the thread I posted, the Napa 3020 has a smaller diameter, and requires some kind of spacer to be held in place. I've never tried it myself.

Hmm, I have one in my tank right now that didn't have any issues fitting.
Here's the description from Desmotimes Manual:
"The $3.50 NAPA filter is one-quarter of the price of the OEM unit, and has similar performance characteristics. They are available from Desmo Times. I use them by the dozen in my shop. The outer diameter of the NAPA filter is smaller than the OEM, but the lip in the center approximates the OEM filter. Simply put the lip between the plastic retainer band and snug it down."
So there you have it.
