Coming from a background of road racing a 996sps for years, a bike with less ultimate braking power, but great modulation, I wonder if a pad or master cylinder change would make the brakes come on more smoothly at first, with power ramping up as lever travel increases.

Thoughts? Experience? Solutions?

Can someone with a Pitbull single sided stand please do me a favor? I'm wondering what size the pins are... not the end that goes into the bike axle, but the end that goes into the stand. It should slip into a bearing on the stand I believe. If someone could measure that with a caliper I'd appreciate it.

The reason I ask is because I have a K&L Supply stand which looks basically the same as the Pitbull and I have both size pins that fit left and right sides of most of the Ducs. However they do not offer the large pin for the SF/1098 axle. I'm just wondering if by chance the Pitbull pin would fit into my stand so I'd only have to buy the pin and not a whole new stand. Here is my stand...

As some of you know I was one of the unlucky ones who got a Streetfighter with a severe fueling issue.
My bike had a bad hesitation just off idle and again at around 3500 RPM (this moved around as I made changes to the bike).
It would also surge annoyingly at any steady throttle below 6000RPM.

For over a year waited for a viable solution but in the mean time I tried a couple interim temporary fixes:
FatDucs helped a bit when I had stock mufflers but they were not the total answer. Gearing the bike masked the problem a little.

I waited for an exhaust system that I liked and didn’t want to do any tuning until I had settled on an exhaust.
When I finally decided that there would be no shorty GP style system available I chose to go with the termi exhaust
and it was time to start looking at a tuning solution.

After a couple of false starts and a few too many dollars spent I called up Doug Lofgren at Ducati Minneapolis
and tried to arrange a time for me to trailer my bike up there from Denver for a tune. It turned out that we could not make our calendars fit.

So Doug offered to flash my ECU with a map he just created for a bike with my same exhaust system.
He also wanted me to change my injectors so that they would match the bike he tuned.

At my 7500 mile service I had the tech at my dealer do the install so he could set the trim, air bleed screws, TPS,
sync the throttle bodies, set the cam timing and make sure all was just right for the map to work its best.

The results are nothing short of amazing. I have a new bike that works like it should have worked from the factory.
It starts quickly, idles correctly, and pulls away from a stop with smooth grace. There is no hesitation, no surge,
and no stumble. The deceleration is clean and the off/on throttle is smooth and precise.

My only regret is that the bike had to endure the first 7500 miles and over a year running so poorly.
On a side note I went through so many changes that I have a few items for sale in the classified section including
a DP ECU and a set of Termi mufflers. Check it out if you’re interested.

Finally, my fueling issue is a thing of the past and I have a Streetfighter that is as amazing as it should be.

I got a chance to do a ride with Big Labowski on Friday and we swapped bikes for a short distance.
BL’s bike has no fuelling symptoms that my bike was plagued with for the last year.
You guys that have good running bikes are very lucky…
Mine was no fun to ride at times but now it runs like it should.

BTW the tech that tuned my sf said he’d never been on a SF that had as much poop as mine –
(he mentioned something about 80MPH 3rd gear wheelies) I attribute that to the gearing and the full system. I love this bike!!!

(oh also, when I was at the dealer waiting for BigL to get his bike back from service I bought another new toy,
Tallyrex check the sig. Dammit BigL took too long!!!)

I took my time to do it, and I used as many original left over parks from the emission canister as possible to fit the new guy into the old slot. It's working nicely - it may looks a bit sticking out; but I have to make sure there is enough seperation between the engine and the new horn (don't want a melting horn :o), and space for any vibration. It was a bit quick and dirty but I love the look :D
Will post video soon...
