Talking Hyper winter Project

I have a big winter project for my HM.
I decide to try to do it step by step ( as much as i can ) just to have an idea of what works and what doesn't.

First Mods about 8weeks ago i put a Fat Duc on my 100% stock HM except for a 14th front spocket.I put the fat Duc, adjust it to a 13to1 A/F ratio then adjust the air bleeder and finished with a very smooth running, silky smooth idle with a very smooth and instant response. No more bug, no more hesitation.Even more surprising, it was now like 1 gear better everywhere.( pops wheely in 2nd as easy as it was in first before, same things in third vs 2nd).So i decide to put back the 15 tooth gear and it pulls enought to pulll wheely easy in 3rd gear. Best $80.00 ever.

Mods 2: Sc project 2-2 exhaust
I have looking around for a long time for an exhaust for my HM, and decide to go with this one because it was a real dual exhaust with bigger diameter for a more easy flowing exhaust, and because my target at the end of the project is to find some more rev up top without loosing to much down low. Also i like the look of it,and like the feedback i receive for the sound.I install the pipe yesterday.Very good quality, very well made. install have been ultra easy for all the pipping, very precise fitting and easy to figure out even without any instruction. The only problem that i find was to fit the bracket for the baffle.
Since i haven't modify the air box, and have a Fatduc on it, i decide to start it up and see how it works. it start instantly, and it sound wonderful. Pretty loud thought, but its ok for me.Without any other adjustement out of the box, it have a very good idle, response is very good, and it seems to run good everywhere.
Next test my wheely dyno tell me that its even easier to pull up, lot more torquey ( you can let it go down and put it back up without touching the ground) can we say mega torque .
Its seems to pull a bit more on top too, but i'm pretty sure that when i will have open the air box it will give me a lot more.

Note all the test since the Fat Duke have been done in a very miserable temp beetween 5 to 10 degree C ( f... cold here already)

Next step : Duke Shop stack kit, DP cam kit with the DP ECU and Pistal 11.25 to 1 Pistons. I will also put a MBP shim kit and change the Belt at the same times.
Last thing,s that i have to decide is : Do i give my heads to Guy Martin for a mega head work ( bigger valve, 5 angle job, repostioning of the intake and remodeling of the port ).

I'll keep you inform of my progress !

See you're gonna be busy this winter
I'm going for rear shock and front fork job this time. Maybe a red mid-size tank too...

I jave the MBP collet, but I will only be able to give a feedback on that in 6.000km, when I'll be due for the 24k maintenance.

Dont know if you called guy martin yet for the heads, but last I spoke with him about that, the bill went thru the roof. Between the job on the head, rerouting the oil and the cams, it was a 5.000$ job at least.
I would suggest do to it with a set of heads from ebay... just in case.

Head work

Hi Chouch !

Yes i visit Guy 3 weeks ago , and he show me all the parts, so i can compare the stock DS stuff vs the modified one.He seems to do great works, the price is for sure very hight, but a lot lower than what you said. But i do a good parts of the work myself,so it'll cut in the price too.I'll see if i go there this year, or if i stop at pistal and cam kit only, with no head work or only a 5 angle to seal it well. Guy said that most 2 valvehaead leak beetween 15 to 25% stock.A good seat valve job will put it around 3-4 %, so good gain just there. Will see for that !

Finaly what is your choice for the suspension ?

Probly go with Traxxion for the rear (either way, a rebuilt or 8983 Penske) and Maxton 25mm cartridges for the front.

I know it's no Ohlins or Racetech, but the feedback from owners who dealed with Traxxion and Maxton convinced me that it will be plenty good enough, and will save me a good chunk of money that can be invested somewhere else on the bike (cams and medium size tank ?) or my girlfriend (cams and medium size tank, she better likes that present...)

Plus, I dont track the Hyper, it's my hooligan commuter and weekend fun drug, and I'm sure Traxxion and Maxton dup will be a HUGE improvement !

Question Traxion +1 Maxton?

I agree with you that a revalve suspension is more than enought for road use.I have used some Traxion stuff on GSXR for Road race and have been very imprest.Very good valving for track use. But they are more in road race stuff, don't know what it would be for road use.For Maxton, i don't know them very well , but most stuff that i've seen from them seems like very cheap stuff. Why don't you just make some revalve and resprung by the excellent shop that we have localy ?
