Hyper 796 REAR shock question
Hello all! I have a 2010 796 hypermotard that i am going to be doing a lot of upgrades to as time and money permit. My first question to everyone is:
Will the Ohlins rear shock that is used on the 1100 evo ( ohlins p/n 36520811A) fit on my 796 hyper? Most of the websites that sell these say that they are for the 1100 only.... so if that is true, why? Does anyone know which ohlins rear suspension set up (or marzocchi) will bolt right in???
Thank you!

I inquired and was told no. The 1100 shock will not fit because of a fuel management issue. There is something with the fuel system.

So what does two pictures really tell you unless you take some measurements

we've looked at this as our op's manager Cindy has a Hyper 796 and we had a closeout Hyper shock. The 2010's use FI from Seimans and they use an O2 sensor on each header that is right in the way of the 1100 Ohlins remote reservoir! It's still utilized with the DP full system for the 796 which she has on there too..

doon , 90% of the 1100 parts fit the 796. i knew the measurements where the same
i thought by looking at the pics you would have seen the nitro reservoir is the only difference

Thank you for replying, that makes a lot of sense.... I just took at look at mine and can clearly see there would be a problem.... So my next question is if you have found any solutions to that issue, such as using the same type ohlins shock with a remote reservoir... or another brand....? or what about mounting it with the reservoir on the right side... is that even a possibility? Any suggestions?

Well I guess the shock falls into your 10% of parts that DONT fit the 796
Thats why I stated that these things need to be measured not just assumed from looking at pictures
A shock with a remote reservoir might work if you can find one that will fit.

The answers for that is in the recent shock thread for the 1100.
Mike from Traxxion can build a Penske 8983 (compression - rebound - preload) or a 8987 (compression - rebound - preload - h/l speed adjusment) for the HM.
Those 2 shocks are not piggy back systems, but comes with a remote reservoir instead.
