Chicken strips?
Not so much....
My (new) rear tire after 2 days at the track.
I have to say that these Diablo's are great...they warm up fast even in super cold weather (it was 5C the second morning and I don't have tire warmers) and stick very well with predictable break away. I'm very impressed.

Won't be too long and you will have them totally gone, sticky rubber so they will hold you well, just gotta put a little more confidence in them.

Why does this read like porn to me? I see that picture of melted, feathered tire, nearly falling off the edge of the tire and I am actually aroused (no, not sexually).

It's a little different getting the Hyper rolled into a corner compared to my GSXR but I can see where after a few laps the chicken strips would be history. Just for what it's worth I mounted up a set of Q2's and they did quite well too, but I didn't get a chance to push them at the track since I had a brake failure (no not the BS kind, "my brakes failed") when one of the front calipers starting locking up and smoking like crazy.

How's the front? The PP 2CT has a tall sidewall but I got most of it. It was about 107 that day and well over 130 on the track so I wasn't pushing it any further. Now that I have Bridgestones back on there and it's cooler they get all goo'd up.

Probably crazy, but I use a belt sander to clean that stuff off after a day at the track, seems to help on the outlaps next track day. Probably just mental and doesn't do anything............
I'll be in Austin the week after next for a business meeting..............

I was kind of kidding about the chicken strips...clearly there is some serious wear on the sides, right to the edge.
The fronts did not feather as bad but I was not charging corner entry due the cold temps. It was slow(ish) in and fast out.
The real problem I had was that hard parts start to touch down pretty fast. Pegs, rear brake and kick stand are all kinda low. I'll have to remove the stand and get some rearsets fro next year.
Anyone know how many heat cycles I can get out of these tires or how many track days they last (in general)? I plan on getting some tire warmers to help keep temps consistent.

You should be able to scrub the tyre to the edge before grinding hard parts!!
Is your suspension set right for spring preload and ride height?

I was wondering the same thing. My tires used to look destroyed like that too until I had my shock rebuilt. Now the rear wears perfectly. The front looks shitty because I am limited with what I can do with the front fork with the crappy internals and all.
It was a hot day and you might have been overheating the tires. Did you check your temps to make sure you weren't gaining more than 7-8 lbs. of pressure hot to cold?
