Which lift?

I'm thinking the garage needs a lift. With so many to choose from I am hoping you guys can provide some guidance. I have found that harbor freight has a fairly cheap one, but I know you get what you pay for, so I am reluctant.

Thanks.

I've got a friend that's got a harbor freight lift I think it was around $300, he's happy with it, but prefers my SAM1000 Handy Lift.

I've had this handy lift for a couple years now and it's superb, very happy with it, lifts make life so much easier when working on a bike, I waited far too long to get one. The handy is used by most motorcycle shops but is more than twice the price of the harbor freight version, I think mine was about $750 if I recall. WOrth every penny.

Handy Industries Online Store

PS, if you have a choice I'd opt for the pneumatic vs. electric version, less to go wrong.

Handy, hands down. There's a reason that they're the only thing you'll ever see at any and all dealerships. I bought a cheap one ages ago and regretted it every time I used it - it was so rickety and unstable. The Handy is bombproof.

Handys are a great choice. This is another good one. I've had this one for a few years and think it's build quality is as good. It is every bit as stable: ProCycle XLT and they have become popular options to the Handys with repair shops .

Check Craigs list. There are lots of shops closing due to the economic melt down. Very likely there is one near you with tables for sale. You can save significant shipping charges if you pick up a used example localy.

I've got the Northern Tool lift, bought it on sale a few years ago. It's fairly sturdy but the lift cylinder is to total POS. It started to act up shortly after the warranty expired, figures right! If I had it to do over I would definitely purchase something better like the Handy or the higher price Northern with the extended warranty.
