Oil leaking from clutch cover

I rolled the HM out for a ride this morning. While doing the pre-ride check I noticed black oil leaking out of the bottom of the clutch cover. I pulled the cover and there was a small amount of oil on the bottom of the case.

This is my first Ducati and first motorcyle with a dry clutch but this doesn't seem normal.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Michael

unlikely that the oil is leaking from inside the clutch cover (it's possible, as there is an oil seal located on the case behind the clutch basket) ... it's more likely that the oil is leaking from the oil filter, and that wind is blowing the oil up from under the engine case to the bottom of the clutch cover.

John;
Thanks for the quick reply. That was good tought the but area around the oil filter is spotless.I should have done some investigation before I pulled the cover and cleaned up. I will go for a ride and keep an eye on it.

Attached are a couple photos. You can see the filter is clean but there is a lot of oily dirt below the sight glass.

hmmm ... thanks for the photos. check the tightness on the side case bolts. wipe all the oil off, and then ride and check again.

Disregard. The root cause is too stupid to say out loud.
