Well, the Hyper fell over last night...
Just picked the bike up from ProItalia where it was getting freshened up, (was in storage for 7 months while I played in Afghanistan) and I saw another rider pulled off to the side of the exit ramp. He was all set up for adventure riding and clearly having problems.
Pulled over, kickstand down, got off and didn't notice the angle of the hard shoulder. It was enough to send the bike going over the other way. There was a nice curb that fit neatly between my bar ends and frame slider and the tank fairing took the impact with a nice crunch for effect. Picked it up immediately, saw nothing was effected that wasn't cosmetic and attended to the other rider, who was too occupied to see my mistake.
He had left Boulder, Co a few days ago and somehow his chain guide came loose and derailed his chain. Lucky for him it didn't lock up and he got off the highway. After he assured me he had sufficient tools and a plan to get the bike going again, I gave him my best wishes and rode the last 2 miles home.
Now I have only been looking for a few hours, but it doesn't seem that easy to find a replacement tank fender that isn't a new $600 one from the dealer. No luck so far in the classifieds for an unmolested right side in red. Any thoughts?
-S

or maybe just get them painted and have a liiiitle bit of carbon showing... but then it might end up costing as much as oem
I guess no good deed goes unpunished (at times)... I'd keep an eye on ebay... I haven't noticed a good source for discounted oem duc parts yet. I'm new to the Duc scene.

I've been looking for a Red LEFT fairing panel on eBay for about three months now with no luck. (Low-speed get-off when the front brake grabbed at a stop light) There was one a few weeks ago, but it had a damaged mount and looked a little less than new. If you want a black fairing, there are tons, but no RED!
My left fairing only has a Nickel-sized scrape on tip of the pointy part, so it's not that bad, but I'd love to have a fresh one... just can't justify $600!
If you find someone who is selling BOTH red fairings (maybe because they bought a CF set! lol) then please let me know! I'll buy the left side!
I also need a left handguard/mirror assembly. Mine got damaged in the same get-off. Works fine, just scraped up, but I hate having damaged parts on my beautiful Hyper!

Wingnut037, your blood is bottling mate that was a great thing to do, I am sorry for the mishap, I had a similar thing but it hurt me, I ended up with a monster cut on my hand from the guy I was helping, he was more upset than me.
Anyway, full cred for helping a bro. .. may someone shine on you for an economic repair.

I appreciate all of the responses.
Thanks for selling me such a pristine bike Obie, just wish it was still that way. Very glad it was only the plastic and will be complete again soon.
Henry, I replied to your PM.

I have both stock handguard complete and in mint condition, but I was planning on keeping them for when I eventually sell the bike. We might be able to work something out however. I will keep a look out for a left side in red.
