796 hyper fork oil question

the manual states that the right fork has 450cc of oil and the left has 470cc of oil.this is not my first bike and im good with adjusting forks, with this having no adjustments why the different levels of oil?
i was going to change out the 7.5wt to 10wt and raise the air gap so less front end dive.
any answers from the ducati pros??

That sounds odd, but then again I do not have the 796.

Maybe Ducati was trying to get a more "progressive feel" out of the forks, that's all that would do.

Add oil 10mm at a time to get what you want, if the forks get too stiff too fast, run a larger air space & add some preload to the fork springs. Aloha Alex

Did the manual say anything about the compression valving being in one fork leg and the rebound valving being in another??

That could explain the diferent oil levels. In fact, that would be the only thing that I can think of that would explain the different oil levels.

I think going to 10w oil and raising the air gap is masking the problem. I believe that you will be crippling your dampening by going to a heavier weight oil and while you will definitely reduce the dive, you will essentially be hydrolocking your forks to a point.

I would change the springs out and stay with 7.5w oil if you think the valving is good.

This is coming from a guy that dropped my 1100S fork oil from 7.5w to 5w and gained dampning that it didn't have stock. The air gap was changed and now I can get a respectable static sag that I couldn't attain (also masking the problem) before but I really think I need a heavier spring for my 205lb azz.
