Factory Ducati dampner- Leaking!
9800 miles and my damnper has a bad leak out of the adjustment part. I just took it off the bike but seriosly hestitate to take it to Ducati! It must be a seal that is easy to replace, I hope. Anyone take one of these apart yet or have a diagram, it loks to be simple but this thing is like $800? so I'm not certain I want to Dig In w/o research first

if the damper is the ohlins/scotts rotary style damper, you can purchase seals for it through any ohlins dealer. very easy to take apart, replace the offending seal, and install new fluid. i have replaced seals on two ohlins/scotts rotary dampers ... and if i can do it, anyone (except francesco) can do it.
if, on the other hand, the damper is one of those POS DP rod dampers ... all bets are off on being able to get parts and service it yourself.

ciao jeff,
my comments above are based on working on the scotts/ohlins rotary style.
if you can disassemble the DP rod style (my comment about them being a POS is based on hearing/seeing lots of them leaking), you "should" be able to get seals to replace any broken/damaged ones in the unit.
once you have the unit apart, and can locate the offending seal, try sourcing a replacement seal from a good o-ring supplier.
fwiw, i have used these folks in the past:

ciao,

If it is less than 2 years old warranty it with Ducati and get it replaced. They are made by FG so if you need seals/tools to do it yourself just give them a shout. I'm sure you can also send it to FG for a repair.
