Is this a scam?

I know I should put this in the gear section but not as many people check that section out and I'm about to pull the trigger on one of these Daienese jacket pro wave 2 jammies. Problem is the retail for it is about $399 and I found them for $169 on ebay new but here's the hook their in china. They have good customer feed back but something seems fishy to me possible knock of maybe I don't know what do you guy's think check out the link.

New seller, feedback all positive. I'd wait (if you can) a few weeks or more to see how his feedback goes. It could be legit, but I'd move cautiously.

I found them on other web sites also one has them listed the more you buy the cheaper they get http://www.dhgate.com/dainese-body-a...842e50f58.html either these guys bought these off some Somali pirates or these things are Chinese knockoffs made out of recycled bootleg DVD's. I don't know if $200 savings is worth taking a chance for my protection.

these are counterfeit. nothing wrong with that as leather is leather, and padding is padding (it's all about how you crash), but these are not dainese.

Nuff said. As far as I'm concerned, end of story, nothing else to talk about.

I don't know anything about this auction, but my g/f is from China, and apparently (since they don't have the same trademark laws they have here), if a company outsources to China for manufacturing, the factory that did the work, will often make a surplus of the item, and sell them for a huge discount without the original company's consent. BUT you have to know the grade of the knockoff since there are varying levels of quality among the knockoffs. Some are exact copies, and some are much lower quality (both in materials and labor). Again, I don't know if that is the case here, and even if it was, we have no way of knowing what grade these jackets are. But if I was you, I'd be buying a leather jacket, not a plastic mesh thingy...regardless of where it was made.

Also, I just wanted to add that if you're just worried about price, there are plenty of companies that make excellent alternatives to Dainese, for significantly less money. If it was between $200 for a potentially fake Dainese, or $150-200 for a guaranteed A* or Frank Thomas, I would take the latter in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the feed back guy's I decided not to buy the Jacket. I'd rather pay more for the real deal. I did some further investigating and realized there is a huge Chinese bootleg Dainese thing going down all over the Internet. Also Dainese moved it's manufacturing from Italy to Tunisia recently so no chance of being leftovers from a Chinese factory. As far as the jacket goes I didn't plan on wearing it alone I was going to wear it under my leather jacket or my textile one. I was looking for better protection as I have a Icon field armor vest that I wear under my jacket's. I like that the Dainese has level 2 spine protection that's removable to put in a leather suit for track day's and also has what looks like some good chest, shoulder and elbow protection.
