Hyper v Tiger
went to the Triumph shop on Saterday and was asked to take the new triumph tiger for a test ride. No doubt a powerfull machine and had lots of comfort but in my opinion it does not compare to the hyper. In my opinion the hyper is hard to beat when it comes to torgue and handleing

Do you mean one of the *new* Tigers, ie 2011 models? One has an "on road" focus and the other has an "off road" focus as opposed to a GS or a MS that try and be do everything bikes that leave one area or the other compromised. (Plus, it doesn't look too bad from what I can tell from the "teaser" videos) It'll be interesting to see which model outsells the other. Street version most likely IMO.

I have both
I have both bikes and they are nothing alike, you can't compare these 2.
Hyper and Dorsoduro or KTM supermoto or the such like, Tiger and the Multistrada or BMW GS (at a push) or one of the more upright Japanese bikes, definately not together.
Do what I did and buy both !!

If you like the TR Tiger platform due to its verstaility, see if you can get a ride on the 2011 *street* version as it would be a *better*, but still a nowhere close to equal comparo to the hyper, as it will have street suspension/tires etc. The hyper will probably handle a lot better due to what I would think would be a tremendous weight advantage, but from all accounts I read about "adventure bikes", they more than hold their own in the techincal twisties due to the wide bars and upright seating position.

I test rode a 2010 Tiger the other day. I'm actually on the fence about trading in my '08 Hyper for the Tiger, just for the increased luggage/touring capacity. Sadly I can't justify both. The Tiger is amazingly fun, more flickable than I thought it would be after coming off the Hyper. That triple is such a sweet motor! And according to the published figures, it's only about 30lbs over the Hyper for dry weight.
But then I was up at Loudon again on the Hyper this week, grinning from ear-to-ear. Not that you couldn't do a trackday on the Tiger, but it just wouldn't be the same...

yea i was out on the hyper the other day and i wouldn't compare the two. The hyper is by far the better bike and i think that because of the stilling there is not the half of the wind hitting you as there is on the tiger

Horses for courses (was: Tiger vs. Hyper)
Depends on what you're using it for...I'm lucky enough to have both (and will point out that used Tigers are hella cheap) and love the Tiger for some things (rode 2-up fully loaded w/my wife-who-binned-her-bike up Highway 1 to her conference in Monterey) and the Hyper for some things (Latigo).
If you get the Tiger, it needs suspension work (much more than the Hyper did)...if you get that suspension work, it's much more flickable...
