Oil Question??
Does any of our Hypermotard riders recommend/not recommend any particular brand of motorcycle engine oil. Tell me if you have had a good or bad experience with the brand. I have used Mobil 1 Synthetic Race in all of my bikes and they have held up well to my abuse. I am curious if anyone has used the "recommended Shell Advance 4" oil. I plan on running K&N filters (KN-153) on this bike just like all my Hondas. The quality of the filter, the nut on the end and the setup for safety wire are all the selling features I need.
I was considering using Royal Purple oil in this motorcycle only because all of my twin friends swear by it.
Thanks for 2 cents!

Mobil 1 makes a real nice v-twin oil in 20w50 that has received some good analysis results....pricey but good. I run it in my Mercury Racing offshore motor also with great results. You can get or order it from O'reilly's. There are other great oils also to each his own.

Honda oil?
I recently changed my oil and the stealer recommended Pro-Honda HP4 20W50
as he says its what they use in the service dept, so I did. No issue yet although it does turn over slower when starting since the change. (No idea if this is oil related or not, just noticed it)

Hi ... I'd use an ester based oil or one with a nice dose of esters in it because the oil will adhere to the metal components in the engine longer between rides than an oil without esters. This assumes you do not ride your bike everyday ... most do not. Right now I am running Motul 300V 10W40 but there are a lot of good oils out there to choose from.

This is so stupid! No matter how hard I try, I just can't resist looking at an oil thread. Grrrrrrrrr!
