"Trackified" Hypers
Hi,
Has anyone made their Hypers more track day friendly e.g. Removed the mirrors, front light and indicators?
Are there any solutions for the front end if one removes the light?
Pics would of "trackified" Hypers would be great.
Ciao ciao

most track day clubs/organizations do not require removal of the front/rear lights ... you just need to duct tape over them to prevent any plastic shards from being left on the track surface, should you bin.
hint when duct taping over the lights: use painters tape (3m makes a great version), as it has less "tack" and will come off after the track day much easier than duct tape will. also, make sure to either remove the headlight bulb, or remove the fuse for the headlight and tail light, as the heat from the headlight bulb will not be good for a taped over headlight assembly. the extra heat could warp the plastic lens.
removing the rear turn signals/license plate bracket is easy, as is removal of the hand guards/indicators/mirrors for the front.

"Duc" tape
Ask for it by name at your local Ducati dealership
Does anyone just remove the whole beak/headlight assembly and replace with some kind of number plate or big smiley face? I've heard it's not too hard and might save some bucks in the event of a spill.

I would suggest taking off the head light off as it could be expensive to replace if crash it. Get a motocross number plate and zip tie it in place to protect the open area. If you have an "S" remove the carbon exhaust covers as those are also expensive. As previously mentioned, i also remove the whole license plate / blinker setup.
I had never installed the handguard/mirrors, I use a CRG barend and some small LED blinkers for the street.
Takes me about 30 minutes or so now to go from street to track.
Here's a mine in track mode...

Before you worry about the headlight. I'd recommend the racing handguards and axle sliders. I've seen two guys go down at trackday's without handguards. They both needed new bars + levers and such. There's pictures of the damage from a lowside with handguards and axle sliders here: Finally did It.... Low-sided the Hyper

you can just uplug the headlight/brake light/turn signals instead of removing the bulbs. Thats what I do.

This is the only (not in focus) pic of mine in track mode on this puter. Hand guards and mirrors were tossed early on, never to be used again. Use Rizoma mirrors when on street. Woodcraft pegs helped tons and not with just clearance. Easier to maintain position when driving out of turns, for me anyway.
Just installed a S Ohlins shock and hope to play with that at a trackday Monday as a matter of fact. I just pull the headlight fuse.

One of the things that I love with Hyper is that when I go on track I just remove the mirrors (DP), the licence plate and cover the headlight with thick red sticker.
And of we go
