796HM w DP ECU/Arrow Manifold

So I saved the $1800 slip on bill and skipped right to the cat elim/Race ECU

Installed the DP ECU that comes with cat elim Manifold. $1200
Allready had installed Arrow manifold. O-well, will sell DP manifold
Stock Cans retained
Modified my air box cover because even though Kit DP Info says it comes with one, that is a "mis-print" otherwise known as Ducati BS

First start with closed throttle so as to learn TPS
Starts up nicely
Warm up and take for a short ride. Wow
Instant throttle response. Better be payin attention and holding on
Also absolutly NO backfiring. I ran it up 6-8 grand in first gear and shut the throttle, no backfire, at all !!!
No nasty computer error messages. DP said it would run too rich as I did not buy the Termi slip-on.
Time will tell but my first ride confirms what I hade Guessed/hoped. No overrated, expensive Termi slip on needed here.

Cool Mike ..... well done. I been waiting for you to get this done ...Please tell me/us more after a couple rides. I too love the CATless/stock can combo .... $1200 will be hard for me to come up with .... $400 be a lot easier..No way to get the ECU alone ? I am needing a new set of tires on mine (+3800miles) so that has to come first.

Take care man.

Howdy,

Is this what you bought?

http://www.ducatiperformance.com/duc...cPath=22_28_74

YES

So just the cat-elim and ECU? If it's still running great and you haven't noticed any 'richness' problems (though I don't know what they'd be, me being a newbie and all :-) ), I might just go for this. I suspect many others as well!

NO PROBLEMS SO FAR

Have you noticed less sluggishness/chugging under 4k rpm?

STEADY THROTTLE GOOD FROM 2500 UP BUT SMOOTHER RUNNING FROM 3 UP

And how about the overall sound improvement. (The stock sound is a pretty muted 'whine' IMHO, and there's that periodic vibration/rattling sound...you must know what I speak of...)

THE SOUND IS AWESOME

Thanks for any additional details!

Cheers,

Rob

Thanks for all the info Mike. Do you have the stock cans cored out, or are they left alone?

Thanks sharing the part number.

Have not cored the cans.
Thinking about it but not sure about sound Quality/level.
Loud enough now to make heads turn when I start up.

I hear ya. I have mine cored and it changed the exhaust note to a deeper tone. Not much lowder, just a little better sounding (stock cat though). I think you would be ok to core them. Figure if the kit is made to work with a termi, I cant imagine it would be any louder than a termi with the stock cans cored out.

ducatiwop .... get the cat out of there and the forceful hard note of the stock can exhaust is unbelieveable...... core that sucker and it may very well be too much for sum burbs ......

dang it I want a DP ECU and a swiss cheese air box lid and I'd be a happy duc camper
