Hypermotard weight ?

Hey tarders.

I have been considering a Hypermotard. It would likely see more track miles then road miles.
Why are these things so heavy? A Streetfighter & the SBK weigh at least 10 Lbs lighter at dry weight. I do realize the SF & SBK will gain more weight once the rads are filled.

What kind of weight reduction can we get on these things(without completely draining the bank account?)

05 R1 (a work in progress)
07 1098S Black (track/racebike. Blown motor, sold)

I think NCR got them under 300 pound, filled (but, there's that draining the bank thing...)

12-15lbs + is pretty easy with a new exhaust system, lightweight battery, and removing the passenger pegs, tail kit, stock air box, handguards/mirrors etc. All relatively inexpensive given the performance gains.

Out!

+1 I think a 2-1 Exhaust makes a big difference in noticeable weight. Also aluminum subframe can shave 8 or so lbs off.

So, ruffly 25 lbs of weight loss. The exhaust is a given, altho I am not that fond of that CF piece leg guard that I have seen on the single Termi's. I do like the look of the Zards.

Light weight flywheel is also key, since is a moving part. Better for handling.

my evo sp is quoted at 171 kg's (376.2) pounds

the termi 2-1 will drop 7 kgs (15.4) pounds (2-2 full system is around 5.8 kgs lighter than stock ( 12.8 pounds) add a better filter kit

antigrav has a battery that can shave another few pounds.( cant remebr was it 6-8 pounds) 2-3 kgs

so that get you to around 350 ish pounds very easily..the 2010 evo is around 11lbs lighter in the motor (has lighetr flywheel etc already) rear subframe is also lighter (not sure of the diff b/w the alloy one offered on this forum also)

so quite easily you can drop 25 lbs and add 10hp...gets it cooking along nice

my last bike was an ape sxv550 at around 275 pounds..sure you feel the difference ..but its the difference b/w a plastic bike with a cracking swing arm.and rip your arms off motor (god bless her) .and a more of a rolls royce feeling sporty tard thing..hope that sheds some light?

I am kinda looking for the Rip your arms off motor. I hope your referring to the Duc?

I know a few guys with the 550 Ape. One guy claims he will get his bike down to 250 lbs. And 72 HP.

Man, thyat 08 Hyper on Ebay right now has me tempted. Buy it Now for $8025.

Any of U guys want to upgrade to the Evo & sell there BLACK 1100(or S) cheap? :-)

rip your arms off was refering to the high reving ape..72 hp in one of those is like a MX bike on GBH....most fun i have ever had on anything with wheels..duke has torque ... but delivered in a much more civilized way ..again just my opinion .. and i am still running my SP in ...but a midly tuned SXV is truley something on a kart track
