Strange buzzing coming from HM 796
Has anyone encountered this? I'm getting a buzzing harmonic that comes on intermittently in the lower rpms anywhere from idle to maybe 6k and is loud enough to be audible over the engine. It sounds like it may be coming from around the catalytic converter but I could definitely be mistaken. The buzz just might just be amplified by the cat rather than originating from it.
The only mod done was the removal of the carbon canister at the dealership during the 600 mile service (~2000 miles currently). The hyper is otherwise bone stock. Any ideas before I take it in?
thanks!

I know my ignition lock vibrates at certain rpms.try putting your hand on it the next time you hear it.

Check that your header flange nuts are tight, the flange can vibrate and make noise if loose.

I hear a metallic buzz on my 796 as well, very audible when riding next to a wall or in a tunnel. If anyone has an idea on how to get rid of it, I'd love to hear your solutions.

I had the same buzzing on my 796 and it started at around 3600 miles. I noticed that it was really bad especially on days when I parked the bike outside at work while it was warming up and I road through the parking garage.
Brought it to my dealer and it was diagnosed as a broken cat which made sense since once the bike was up to temp the noise went away. After it was removed they said a weld had broke internally so it had play when it was cold, but once it got hot it expanded enough to quiet it down. They Replaced the cat and didn't hear the noise again.

hmm, maybe they should have stuck with the old cat design on the 1100's. Guess I'm glad that I picked up the LV cat delete since the new cat probably would have broke again if I put too many more miles on it.

I'll check tommorow to try and find out if it's my cat making that sound. If so, I'll take a little trip to the dealership.

Mine has the metallic sound as well, but my cat is already removed and still makes that annoying sound.
Can mostly hear it in mid rpm's on 2nd or 3rd gear when passing cars etc
Been like it after break in.

Excellent. One of the reasons I went for Ducati was that exhaust note, and the noise is kind of messing up the experience. I was a little worried that there was something in the engine or clutch. The dealer will take a look at it Friday morning. Thanks for the tip!
