San Francisco Bound

Hey Crazies.

I'm heading up to the city tomorrow for the weekend on sort of a work/play trip. I'm loading the Hyper in the truck and planning on spending Friday and Saturday exploring (terrorizing) the gorgeous roads surrounding the bay area. Anyone want to play tour guide? Or at least give me some suggestions?

JUST left the Bay Area, so this is strolling down memory lane, sniff! google Pashnit - they're all over it. Cops are all over you in Marin, cept the cowtrail backroads say Marshall-Petaluma Road.

Then, there's the roads that connect Napa & Sonoma valleys, over the ridge. very technical and tight. The Oakville Cross is a favorite of mine.

Also, just ride across the GG Bridge, spectacular, then exit Alexander & go left under the freeway, left at the stop sign & then take your first right up the hill before you get back on the GG Bridge Southbound. This road climbs up the edge of cliff overlooking the Pacific and is fantastic for its vantage points. Keep going where it looks like the road stops. it actually turns into a driveway-wide one-way road that will blow you away and leads past nice trails down to fantastic beaches [lethal riptides, tho] and eventually to a vcool lighthouse at the continent's end. Head North to Inverness & Point Reyes Station. All good bits, but do watch your speed.

For less patrolled roads last time I checked, head to the East side of Mt Hamilton, East of San Jose and do the Mines Road between there and Pleasanton and Palomares Canyon. Have a full tank of gas as you start the gig! Enjoy!

pm sent. call me.

btw, brad listed the known riding roads above ... the ultra cool riding roads are not listed, as all of us here have a sworn agreement NOT to share them in writing to anyone, for fear that these ultra cool roads will become known, and then become ruined.

Bay Area is where riding on the road (vs. dirt bikes) made me a convert...

15 years later, six seasons of racing with the CMRA (even managed a couple of track records..), rebuilt knee, and over twenty bikes - 7 racebikes, six street Ducatis... I've longed to go back.

This weekend I am returning - to where it started for me - w/o a bike but with the future Mrs...

Staying in Los Gatos and looking forward to a drive up to Alice's for breakfast on Sun. Lots of nice roads above / west of San Jose - Google maps will help.

You're Veyron sighting is likely due to the Monterey Historics this weekend (my reason for going..). Might be worth the trip to Laguna Seca - literally millions $$$ worth of vintage racecars on display and on the track.

You need to do what I do and take road trips out there.

Myself and Yellow Cake just did this and had a blast.
