Hyper torque...???
Hi all,
I am just a bit confused with the Hyper torque... I hear everyone is doing wheelies in second and third gears and I can do it only in first gear. Not much power do it at 2 or 3...
I am quit confused now whether it is me (I weight 100kg), or there is smthg wrong with my bike...
I got a dp ecu, zard headers, termignoni manifolds and dp airbox lid.
My dealer set a fuel trim at +10 I think, because the bike was quit lean when I turned up at the dealer shop.
When you pull the gas the rpms climb quit fast... but it seems like instead of getting much faster bike only gets a bit faster and much more louder... basically at around 5k rpm the sound is like the engine is going to explode...
I think there is more of that power in my bike that isnt unleashed.
What do you think guys what can it be? Or maybe I just got used to the torque and now want even more...??? But...the wheelies... even if I pull up the bike there is no way to do it in second gear...

I'd say it's just you at this stage.
Mine does power wheelies in 3rd gear no probs and standups in fourth no clutch.
Engine stock, down one tooth on the front.

Crack the throttle open at 2.5 k in second gear and be ready
The higher the rpms the less chance it will lift, thats what I have found anyway

I ve done it many times but at 2,5k it seems like the engine is struggling to gain power... feels like there is a trailer tied up to the hyper. 3,5-4k is the range where my engine becomes alive and accelerates much better... but still not enough for a wheelie.

I have no issues lifting the front wheel in second or third, but how do you keep the wheel in the air for a longer period in time? Full throttle or would that flip the bike over?
I find it hard to explain what it feels like to do wheelies on the Hyper. I mean it's real fun to do and I would like to do longer ones but I'm also scared in some way to pull to far and drop the bike.
Any advice... besides practice, practice, practice and keeping your right foot near the brake?

Something strange going on. Mine is stock other than the Termi 2-1 with DP ECU and I just roll the throttle on from 30mph in second and the front comes straight up.

In first gear I just open the throttle half way and then when the wheel comes up just keep slightly flicking it (open - close - open - close) to maintain balance and it goes fine... can wheelie untill full rpm reached but in second even if I open the throttle full way down the wheel doesn't even come up (((

If you have access to a dyno, you can see what the HP/TQ numbers are relative to others with these mods, that will help verify if the problem is in the bike or setup. Why it sounds like it is going to explode is beyond me.
First and second should be no problem. You definitely are going to have to be in the sweet spot for thrid, which for me is around 3500 rpm and give a little tug and lean back. You should be able to run them forever in third just by feathering the throttle. This bike flies straight as an arrow on the rear wheel.
Alot of weather variables can your performance. If it is unusually hot, humid, or if you are in a higher elevation say above 2500 msl you may not be able to get third, but second should still not be a problem.
Out!

+10 fuel trim sounds a bit low for headers and air box mods. Mine was lean with +8 (slip on ecu) with the LV cat pipe and Zard slip ons. Bumping it to +15-18 made a big diffeence in throttle response and power.
