DP Race cams questions
Hi, I just bought a used hyper that had already a cat eliminator & GPR slip-on but I think that it miss a little bit of punch...So I'm planning on putting DP Race cams, ECU that goes with it & openning the airbox.
My first question:where can I buy the cams on the web and how much should I pay for them with the ECU? (I'm in Quebec and my dealer is a robber)
Second: Will the ECU be ok with my set-up or I will need also a PCV?
Thanks

the DP race cams are awesome, if you really ring the neck on your hyper. they provide some serious HP increase on the top end, but they sacrifice a little of the torque on the bottom end ... so if you ride on the track or like more top end on your bike's powerband, they are great.
you might find the race cams on fleabay ... but here is a link to AMS's store:
http://www.advancedmotorsports.com/D...mance-s/90.htm
i have purchased parts from them ... great folks (toni and jeff are the best), and recommend them to everyone.
you "can" add a powercommander if you want .. but the cams and ECU will provide great power as is. just make certain that whoever installs the cams sets the degreeing correctly.

Do the cams really had serious HP or does it only move the powerband do the the right end of the dyno chart ?
I wish I could find the bench I saw comparing a stock vs stock + cams, it was pretty obvious than the HP gain was close to 0hp, but that the HP peak was about 1000 rpm higher.
As for where to buy them, I would shoot an email to Anthony from Desmoworks or the folks at Pandorasmotorsports.
If you dont want to go to Monette to get them installed, you can get in touch with Guy Martin, he can install them.

I have the DP cams along with DP race ECU and DP exahust and my Tard is SICK.. I have ridden stock tards, tards with pipes and ECU's, but its nothing when you combine all 3 together. The thing runs like a dream and pulls like a freight train and I am a big boy (250 lbs).
I highly suggest it!!!
Next is the extended tank, a swap to the SC-Project 2-2 exhaust, and a PC with a custom tune. Enjoy your tard, I dare you to not get a ticket or loose your license on it!!! LOL

have not done a dyno since installing the race cams ... seat of the pants dyno indicates that the race cams/dp ecu add a few ponies on top, and extend the rev limit up by about 500-750 rpm ... it just pulls hard all the way to the solid red light on the rev indicator led.

Hate you, now that you used the butt dyno thing, I want DP cams.
I'm just afraid to loose too much grunt at the bottom.

That's easy enough to correct for, if it really happens. Just do more weight loss mods.

Cool, I think I will go for them this winter to avoid down time, the summer here is short so...
currently I find the bike laisy in the higher rev maybe cause a little bit lean or just the way it is with the stock cam so this combo should adress both issues.
I will install them my self probably. I did ajust my valves already and it was quite simple...Also have a degree wheel & almost all the tools for it since ive done it for my motard, should not be that hard.

i have heard that installing velocity stacks will re-gain the lost bottom end when upgrading to the race cams.

I would check the dyno charts closer, there is very little loss of power down low and only for a few hundred rpms. If you have an exhaust you likely wont lose any power at any point in the range. The cams just make a big enough increase to the top end that the bottom "feels" less impressive. It's a classic case of fooling the butt dyno.

That's the first chart I could think of. There are more out there if you search.
