help how do I remove brake light cover?

how do i remove rear brake light cover? ( my bike is the pearl white 09, so its the white cover over the led brake light)

I removed the very small allen screw after removing the seat, but its still stuck or attached to something else. is there another screw somewhere?

It's held on by velcro!
First time removing is toughest, I used a flat head screwdriver to gently wedge between and separate the velcro as I lift the cover (if you follow).
Good luck!

i just installed the evotech tail tidy, and yes, getting to the nut on the other side of the black plastic piece takes some doing (needle nose). OR, simply remove the top two hex bolts (along with the other two larger ones on the larger mounting plate) and pull the brake light fixture down and away so to allow the bolt/nut to slip under the aforementioned black plastic piece (has a groove in it). that's what i did.

hope that helps

velcro? wow! you would think for the price we pay for these bikes that velcro would be the last thing used to fasten parts!

- thanks PKM.

after the small hex bolt is removed, i usually push down (from the top) and slide it forward. if it's like the '08 it should be held down by 3 tabs. one on each side and one in the center.

Ummm... Mine was nothing like what you guys are saying. Unscrew the tiny Allen, and slide the cover towards the front of the bike. It has 4 tabs that clip into the taillight assembly. There shouldn't be any velcro, or any other screws to remove. Fwiw, mine is a 2008 hm1100s

FWIW, I have an '09 in pearl as well, just like Nikki, and I can assure you mine is good old (really strong) velcro! (after small screw is removed).
YMMV.
Let us know what you find Nikki, we're all on the edge of our uncomfortable Hyper seats . . .

You will never loose a part attached with heavy duty velcro.
You will loose nuts and bolts from engine vibration.

Maybe we should just attach the motor with velcro then

Due to a surge in profits from the sale of 08's Ducati was able to upgrade the 09"s to the hook and loom fastener known as velcro. Its many benefits include aero dynamics and a weight savings of a tenth of a gram.
