Ecu help
I had full TERMI race exhaust put on my EVO SP. It does not run good at all, The dealer at GP motorsports in San Diego, is telling me Ducati does not have a compatible ECU for the TERMI exhaust, they said there is no way to tune it. They are waiting on Ducati to make a new ECU for the TERMI exhaust for the 2010 models. Does anyone know about this problem?
Also I had Rizoma indicators installed they flash normal with the switch turned on, but when the bike is running they flash rapid and the turn indicator on the console does not flash at all, but with just the ingnition on they all work fine. Does anyone know of this problem?

I dont think Ducati is going to make a new ECU for the Termi exhaust.
2010 EVO and EVO SP run lean with the stock Siemens ECU.
Since the Siemens DP ECU keep the 2 oxygen sensor and keep running in a close loop, it runs leans too.
There will be a solution at some point, but dont expect it to be from Ducati.

They should never have fitted that system if they knew what they were doing without a new ecu.
Termi full system always has ecu comes with the kit.
Im sure theres no difference from ones made years ago .
Man if this is true what you say you need to change your dealer fast.
The electric indicator thing is another thing that anyone who knows how they work would know that all electrical relays are in the dash.
A bulb with the wrong wattage can send the thing haywire.
The dealer should have a plug in dyagnostic device that shows up problems if not already coming up as a dash error.
Bloody things , I,ve had to learn more in 7 months of ownership of a ducati than years of jap bikes . Their roar and no frills

There's no need to change dealer.
Dealer can't do anything regarding the air-fuel mixture on the new EVO and EVO SP ECU (DP or not). The bikes run lean, and unlike the 1st Hypermotard generation, the DP ECU doesnt help at all.

Here is what Ducati sent me via e-mail, not sure what to think. They are saying it should run fine.
Dear Mr. Hazelwood,
Thank you for contacting Ducati North America.
We do sell full racing exhaust system kits for the 2010 Hypermotard 1100 Evo SP, in stainless steel as well as carbon fiber. Both kits come with designated ECUs designed and programmed solely for the Hyper Evo. We have included the part numbers for your reference:
-96458910B in stainless
-96459210B in carbon
With that written, if there is a defect with the ECU or any other part associated with the concern you are experiencing, the dealership needs to be working with the Ducati Service Representative for your region to resolve the issue. We will forward this email to him so he is aware of the situation.
Regards,
Customer Service

Well, it would have been very surprising to see DNA acknowledged that the bike is running lean to meet Euro norms.
StreetFighter ans new Mutli owners have the same bad experience, stuck with the new Siemens electronic and a very limited range of solution offered to them.
And with Euro norm getting more and more thight over the years, those kind of issue are gonna be common.
Again, you shouldnt have very high expectation in Ducati solving the issue.
Instead you should send an email to motowheels or desmoworks. I think they are testing now some hardware to flash Siemens ECU and upload custom maps.

Generally speaking I find it fascinating what motorcycle owners will put up with compared to other motorized groups. A lot of times you'll see advice like "get over it", "wait for someone to put some bandaid on it and charge you another $500 on top of what you paid for the bike" and so on. I mean can you imagine what would happen if BMW put out a car that drove like it was having an epileptic attack below 40 mph? The masses would revolt. It's kind of disgusting what motorcycle manufacturers get away with in some instances.

My wife has a 2010 796 with the Siemens ECU and her bike has run flawlessly since day one. I install Zard collectors which removed the cat and the bike still runs great. Harmon, did the dealer install ecu that came with exhaust? Does the exhaust have the O2 sensor still hooked up? A properly functioning closed loop system is the best way to go, for normal cruising the O2 sensors will maintain 14.7:1 which is stoich afr. Now at heavy load and WOT the computer goes to open loop and relies on set tables which could be wrong depending on program and bike features. My main point is that the bike should run fine while cruising around if the O2 sensors are working correctly, a closed loop system allows the computer to learn as changes are made to the bike, an open loop system relies solely on set tables and the computer never actually knows how things are running because it disregards the O2 sensors. Best thing to do is get bike on a dyno that has a wide band O2 sensor and see what is going on at both cruise and WOT. Then if you are lean send a copy of dyno run to Ducati and complain. Don't settle for a crappy running bike.

Dont know what to make of that one.
Best of luck as I,m still having problems with my aftermarket ecu.
The bike will run too lean and end up damaging your bike the way it is.
That was my concern.
My advice would be to get your money back and put original pipes and ecu back on.
I feel your pain mate as my bike has been off the road for 5 weeks .
Computer said NO.
