Water-logged hyper with extended fuel tank...

a torrential downpour caught my lady and i out on a ride yesterday... about 80 worth! her bike was fine, but mine was hiccuping. the bike kept running but if i was too heavy handed, it felt like i was flooding the engine. the extended tank puts the air filters right out there, so it makes sense. water logged air filter is not letting enough air through quickly enough for abrupt throttle use. all was well with slow steady throttle use.
any fixes out there? or any hints of an after market air box fit for the extended fuel tank space restrictions?

Maybe waterproofed pre-filter from Outerwears would be a solution.
At least it's fairly cheap to test.

I checked out Outerwear's website but couldn't find a pre-filter for the S&B air-filters - they have them for the ducshop K&N filters.

I'd be willing to try them out as I have the HM69 tank and will eventually get caught in the rain.

Which ones did you get? I couldn't find one for the S&B filters.

I'm using the Ducshop stacks on my Hyper, and since It's my daily driver, I'm often driving under pouring rain.

Even though the K&N are supposed to be water resistant, I felt more confortable adding some Outerwears pre-filter.
I couldnt find the reference on their website, so I had to ask Mark from Ducshop the K&N filter reference, and give a call to Outerwears guys. They had the reference in their database, so it was pretty easy.

You should ask CCW the reference of the little pods they are using for the big tank and give guys at Outerwear a call. I'm sure they have all K&N reference and dimension, but only sell the most popular one on their website.
Everything else has to be custom made for your special order.

It cost me around 42$ for the 2 pre-filter.

And dont bother emailing them, they never replyied to any of my 3 emails...
The guy over the phone was very nice and knew what he was talking about.

Yup, exactly what I just did - Once CCW gets back to me I'll let y'all know what the exact dimensions of the S&B filters are (I guess I could just measure them) and if Outerwears has a pre-filter for them.

The S&B filters that are on the CCW big tank are the same dimensions as the K&N RU-1820 Filters. Outerwears makes a pre-filter for them part #20-1096 that is supposed to help block out water w/o restricting airflow. I ordered two for around $34 shipped. I put them on the hyper last night and they fit nice and snug over the S&B filters. I'll haven't had a chance to ride the bike yet but will let y'all know if I notice a difference in performance.
